Saving the Best for Last (The Incredible Hulk)
Playing in theaters today, Edward Norton’s interpretation of Bruce Banner (aka The Incredible Hulk) lacks the punch needed to make it a box office winner like Iron Man (starring Robert Downey, Jr.).
Downey’s flippancy and brashness bring his character (Stark, the munitions manufacturer) to life in mesmerizing fashion. Whenever he appears on screen, he captivates spectators’ attention. And even though his character is a veritable genius, a man of science who can actually produce a weapon by himself (without the aid of a team of engineers), he never comes across as either a nerd or someone easily intimidated by others.
At the very end of The Incredible Hulk, the Stark character (in the person of Downey) makes a cameo appearance. Although he’s on screen less than five minutes, having a conversation with William Hurt’s character (General Ross), he’s actually the best thing about this movie version of the Hulk.
